Requirements

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance
  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 3 days a week minimum.
  • Prior experience as an intern at MITRE in the last 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Services Providers (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.).
  • Knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Knowledge of database technologies, including relational or NoSQL.
  • Knowledge of Generative Pretrained and Large Language Models and use in the Software Development Lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software systems that contribute to solving our nation’s most critical problems.
  • Be mentored by engineers and scientists that are experts in their fields.
  • Develop software architecture and engineering skills while delivering computing capabilities wherever they are best suited to address the challenges of our sponsors.
  • Leverage and grow hands-on skills with software design and development, engaging in the full software engineering lifecycle using modern technologies.
  • Gain experience with one or more of the following: Cloud Engineering, DevSecOps, Full-Stack Development, Embedded Systems and Internet of Things, Practical Applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
