Software Engineering Intern
About The Position
Bessemer Trust is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join its Application Delivery team. The intern will work alongside engineers to develop, enhance, and maintain software solutions supporting the firm’s wealth management services. The role provides hands-on experience with software development, exposure to modern technologies, and the opportunity to contribute to projects that affect the business. Application Delivery develops and deploys applications aligned with the firm’s strategic goals, using modern engineering principles and an application reference architecture. The team collaborates with business leaders, advisors, investment professionals, and other colleagues. Interns may work across front-end development, API design, back-end systems, and cloud computing. The summer internship program provides real-world experience working alongside experts across departments and offices. Interns manage individual and group projects, interact with senior leaders, network with fellow interns, and attend career-development sessions virtually and in person at the New York headquarters. Supervisors provide ongoing coaching and guidance.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
- Basic understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex technical concepts.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of web development frameworks such as React or Angular.
- Knowledge of database systems such as SQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with generative AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and testing software applications, including coding and debugging.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners, including business analysts, testers, and business areas, to understand requirements and deliver software.
- Analyze and troubleshoot software issues and identify and implement solutions in a timely manner.
- Participate in code reviews to support code quality, adherence to best practices, and continuous learning.
- Manage individual and group projects as part of the internship program.
