About The Position

Copart is seeking a curious, driven Software Engineering Intern to join its Title Transfer Services team in Dallas, Texas. The team owns the ownership and title transfer process for vehicles received at Copart yards nationwide. This greenfield role contributes to a strategic re-architecture initiative, building modern, scalable services and Java and React full-stack applications while exploring agentic AI to automate and optimize operational processes. The intern will work across architecture and design, development, AI and automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The role includes building modular applications, RESTful APIs, responsive interfaces, backend services, and tests; using AI coding agents with responsibility for reviewing and testing their output; and prototyping AI agents using the emerging Python, Google Agent Development Kit, and GCP stack. The intern will collaborate with product managers, domain experts, business stakeholders, UX/UI designers, QA engineers, and DevOps, and participate in code reviews, technical planning, and agile ceremonies. The position is hybrid in Dallas, Texas. Copart describes the internship as offering hands-on software engineering experience, professional development and learning opportunities, a collaborative and inclusive environment, and opportunities to work on high-impact systems and real-world AI applications.

  • Regular use of AI coding agents in development, with the judgment to review, test, and take ownership of the code they produce.
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language, such as Java, Python, Go, or C#.
  • Exposure to frontend development with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, including SOLID, DRY, and KISS, and common design patterns.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design.
