About The Position

DRS Space Systems in Cypress, CA develops advanced space mission payloads, leveraging cutting edge electro-optical and infrared space sensors, instruments, and software for key domestic and international allied customers. As an intern, you’ll have the chance to engage in projects from start to finish, with plenty of opportunities for exploration and growth along the way. Support engineering staff by performing research, design support, documentation and support of testing of real-time, embedded and analytical computer software applications and/or systems. Develop documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance, as well as, interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or 3rd Year status minimum in an Engineering curriculum
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be able work onsite in Cypress, CA
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

  • C/C++, C#, Python and other computer languages
  • VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, Windows and Linux
  • Image Processing
  • Windows applications using VisualStudio and other tools
  • Use of embedded software on ARM, DSP and FPGA hardware
  • Familiarity with Object Oriented Design Patterns and UML
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
  • Willing to learn new technologies
  • Pursuing undergraduate, Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of computer software using real-time operating systems
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
  • Complete assigned tasks on time
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
