About The Position

The Software Engineering Intern will support AI/ML diagnostics and calibration work in KLA’s RAPID division, which develops reticle inspection solutions for semiconductor manufacturing. The role involves developing Python-based software and AI/ML prototypes that combine analytical models with image-based diagnostics. The intern will prepare representative image and signal datasets, assess diagnostic metrics, and compare prototype results against analytical baselines and expert assessments. The role also includes identifying performance-limiting parameters and potential contributors to degradation, recommending calibration actions for human review, and producing reproducible code, tests, and technical documentation. With a mentor, the intern may explore AI-assisted troubleshooting, engineering analysis, or workflow automation to support diagnostics work. KLA’s Semiconductor Products and Customers business unit develops inspection, metrology, and analytics systems and related process technologies for chip and electronics manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing, with foundational knowledge of machine learning.
  • Experience analyzing data through coursework, research, or projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear written and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves
