AI/ML Engineering Intern

Amperesand•Sunnyvale, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Amperesand is building next-generation power infrastructure systems for data centers, EV charging platforms, and future energy applications. Its products combine power electronics, embedded controls, and scalable energy architectures. The AI/ML Engineering Intern will work hands-on with the startup’s engineering team to develop and experiment with AI and machine-learning solutions that improve reliability and accelerate development. The intern will contribute across multiple teams and collaborate with engineers, product owners, and internal and external stakeholders. The role involves ownership of production-facing work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment and requires working onsite five days per week in Sunnyvale; hybrid and remote options are not offered. The intern will develop AI/ML solutions and supporting infrastructure for engineering workflows, including agentic workflows, knowledge assistants, domain-specific LLM applications, RAG systems, and machine-learning models for Mechanical Design Engineering and related teams. The role also includes building data pipelines and evaluation and experimentation workflows, partnering across engineering disciplines, documenting solutions, and producing production-quality code.
