Software Engineering Group Manager

The Coca-Cola Company•Atlanta, GA
•$202,000 - $229,000

About The Position

The Software Engineering Group Manager leads multiple engineers across full-stack, front-end, and back-end disciplines to deliver customer-facing and internal products in a product operating model. The role partners closely with Product, Design, Data, and Architecture to shape strategy, build durable platforms, and deliver measurable outcomes across Coca-Cola’s North America Operating Unit. The manager provides technical direction while growing strong teams and raising engineering standards. Depending on the team, work may involve connected service tools, data and API platforms, customer and operational experiences, or sales products. The role is part of a cross-functional team that emphasizes problem solving, accountability for outcomes, collaboration from discovery through delivery, and continuous learning using data and customer insight. The position is based in the United States, with Atlanta listed as a city. Travel is listed as 0%–25%, and relocation is not provided. The company will not sponsor employment-based visas for this position; applicants must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States without company sponsorship.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience, including building and shipping production-grade applications.
  • At least 3 years of people-management experience leading software engineers; ideally across full-stack, front-end, and back-end disciplines.
  • Experience setting technical direction across services, web or mobile user interfaces, and cloud platforms, and reviewing architecture and design.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Design in a product operating model, including continuous discovery and delivery and outcome-based roadmaps.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering and ML delivery patterns, including pipelines, feature stores or serving, model lifecycle, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks for front end and back end.
  • Experience with APIs, distributed systems, and cloud environments.
  • Experience leading multiple teams or a larger engineering group with shared services and cross-team dependencies.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills across technology, product, and business partners.
  • Experience contributing to product discovery or solution design, not just delivery.
  • Track record of technical leadership within a team, formal or informal.
  • Experience building customer-facing products.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, testing, and observability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building internal platforms or reusable components that accelerate delivery across product teams.
  • Experience with modern cloud and data stacks, such as container platforms, event streaming, and data warehouses or lakehouses.
  • Experience operationalizing ML, including MLOps, model monitoring, responsible AI practices, and experimentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach full-stack, front-end, and back-end engineers through technical leadership and professional development.
  • Help build out the Software Engineering Team.
  • Provide technical perspective to assess feasibility, value, and what is worth building; challenge assumptions and propose simpler, faster, or more impactful alternatives.
  • Partner with Product Management and Design to frame problems, define outcomes, and translate strategy into an executable roadmap.
  • Align cross-team dependencies and coordinate delivery across multiple services and applications.
  • Communicate status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders and make decisions that optimize customer and business impact.
  • Make pragmatic tradeoffs among speed, scalability, maintainability, and cost, while aligning with broader platform and enterprise architecture where appropriate.
  • Guide architecture and technical direction across front end, back end, and platform capabilities, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Data Analytics to enable reliable data products, feature pipelines, and ML-powered experiences where they create measurable value.
  • Establish engineering standards for APIs, UI architecture, data contracts, and eventing, aligned with enterprise and platform architecture.
  • Manage technical risks involving security, privacy, resiliency, and cost; surface tradeoffs and investment needs early.
  • Ensure strong engineering practices, including testing, observability, and CI/CD.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality and system design through reviews and hands-on contribution.
  • Drive continuous product improvement through iteration, feedback, and learning.
  • Establish reliability targets, such as SLOs or SLAs where applicable, and improve performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term product and technical health, including planned reduction of technical debt.
  • Keep the team focused on meaningful impact rather than simply completing work.
  • Clarify ownership boundaries, decision rights, and interfaces between teams to enable autonomy with alignment.

Benefits

  • A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits is offered, dependent on the position.
  • Annual incentive reference value of 30% at target.
