About The Position

RTX is hiring a Software Engineering Co-op for a full-time, onsite session running January through August 2027, including the Spring semester. Students are expected to take a semester away from coursework to participate fully in this working mentorship opportunity. The co-op will join a team developing computing platforms for aircraft flight and mission systems, contributing to embedded software used in military and commercial aviation. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining flight-critical embedded software for next-generation aviation and mission solutions. Work includes embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interfaces, and simulation environments. The co-op will help build systems that meet safety, reliability, and airworthiness standards, and participate across the software lifecycle—from requirements and implementation through testing, verification, and preparation of certification-ready artifacts. The position offers exposure to advanced avionics computing technologies, the full software lifecycle, and engineering processes for safety-critical software. It is based onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future company immigration sponsorship.
