About The Position

RTX is hiring a Software Engineering Co-op for a full-time, onsite session running from May/June through December 2027, including the Fall semester. Students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to participate fully in this working mentorship opportunity. The role focuses on developing flight-critical embedded software for aviation and mission systems while learning from experienced aerospace and defense engineers.

Requirements

Strong development experience with C and C++.
Be actively pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in a STEM field and remain enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Have a minimum of 60 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
Be a U.S. citizen, as U.S. citizenship is required to access certain necessary systems.

Collaboration skills for working across engineering teams on design and implementation.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain flight-critical embedded software for next-generation aviation and mission solutions.
Work with embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interfaces, and simulation environments.
Build high-integrity systems that meet safety, reliability, and airworthiness standards.
Define requirements, implement features, develop test procedures, perform verification activities, and produce certification-ready artifacts.
