About The Position

We are seeking a Software Engineering and DevOps Section Manager under the JETSII contract. This role is responsible for managing approximately 40 employees and reporting to the Spacecraft Software, Analysis and Services Group Manager. The position requires maintaining positive relationships with NASA customers and other support contractors, interfacing with NASA Software Engineering Leads and oversight teams, and demonstrating excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills. The role involves promoting a culture of caring, safety, continuous improvement, and innovation, with a servant/leader approach to management. The work is performed in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering
Related master's degree (may be expected)
10-15 years of related experience
Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills
Strong customer service attitude with a history of effectively interacting with managers and customers
Project management experience
Experience performing employee management duties including recruiting, developing, and terminating personnel
Experience fostering a collaborative team environment
Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Skype, SharePoint, Jira
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
Ability to prepare written documents/presentations and to verbally present at various meetings
Strong time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership ability to oversee a team of professionals working on multiple small and large projects concurrently
Self-starter who can understand and absorb new concepts quickly
Must be local to the JSC area and willing to work offsite at Amentum building and onsite at Johnson Space Center on a regular basis
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice To Haves

Experience leading a software development project across the full development life cycle
Experience in Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development
Minimum of 5 years' experience with NASA/JSC
10 years of experience with NASA/JSC flight software processes
Prior experience with government contract task order management
Prior experience in developing schedules, budgets, and project plans

Responsibilities

Ensure employees in functional areas follow established policies and procedures
Ensure employees generate finished work products under time and budgetary constraints
Review and approve timecards on a weekly basis
Review and approve travel requests
Conduct personnel performance reviews
Resolve employee performance issues
Ensure proper team reporting on tasking
Perform recruiting activities
Ensure personnel are recognized for accomplishments
Coordinate personnel allocations with Division Technical Managers and Task Order Managers
Conduct routine customer reviews for employee tasking and performance
Communicate resource management status to senior JETS management
Promote a culture of caring and safety
Demonstrate a Servant/Leader approach to management
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Perform other duties as assigned or as required
