About The Position

Automox is hiring a Software Engineer for its Agent Team to build and improve a cloud-native endpoint management platform. The engineering team develops products that autonomously manage configuration, security, and patching across Windows, macOS, and Linux devices. The role focuses on software and event-driven services that communicate with more than 2 million deployed Automox agents worldwide. The successful candidate is a curious, collaborative software developer who takes ownership of problems, values quality and testing, and works effectively with a cross-functional team. The position involves building and operating high-availability SaaS applications, contributing to frontend features as well as backend work, and making data-driven technical decisions. Automox is fully distributed. Its engineering teams use a 70/20/10 sprint-capacity model for roadmap work, technical debt and service health, and protected learning and exploration. The company is moving toward full service ownership, and significant technical decisions receive Architecture Review Board review.

  • Experience building production applications in cloud environments, particularly AWS, with a strong emphasis on security best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a close-knit, cross-functional remote team.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and other cross-functional partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience in Go or Java; candidates with experience across multiple programming languages will also be considered.
  • Experience scaling microservice architectures and large-scale event ingestion platforms.
  • Familiarity with scaling websockets, real-time messaging systems such as Kafka or MQTT, non-relational databases such as DynamoDB, and DevOps.
  • Experience building desktop or cross-platform applications.
  • Experience with software running on customer endpoints across macOS, Windows, or Linux, such as agents, installers, or system services.
  • Experience writing automated end-to-end tests using Python, Playwright, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and secure solutions that facilitate communications with more than 2 million Automox agents deployed globally.
  • Extend, enhance, and evolve event-driven services to deliver features in the Automox platform and endpoint software.

  • Evaluate technical options, make clear recommendations, and move forward in ways that invite feedback and iteration.
  • Apply a quality-first approach, including strong testing practices.
