About The Position

V2X is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join a small multi-discipline team of engineers supporting the Transportation Technology and Tolling Solutions (T3S) OmniToll product line in software development, integration, and test efforts. This opportunity is for an early career engineer (<5 years) to serve as an individual contributor with opportunities for growth into an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead role. This role is part of a product line team working in a dynamic, multi-customer environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate knowledge of object-oriented programming in C# on Windows and/or C/C++ on Linux/Unix, gained through coursework, internships, or project experience.
  • Have familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows development environments, including basic shell or PowerShell commands and common system utilities.
  • Experience with software development tools such as Git, GitHub/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Visual Studio, or VS Code, and understanding of version control workflows.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and general web application structure.
  • Familiarity with structured data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Demonstrate understanding of basic communication protocols and service concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP, REST, and SOAP/Web Services.
  • Conceptual understanding of relational databases (tables, keys, joins) and ability to write simple SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, including schemas, stored procedures, or basic ER modeling.
  • Experience developing or maintaining C# applications deployed as Windows services or IIS-hosted .NET applications.
  • Experience with C or C++ development on Linux/Unix systems, including use of common compiler and build tools.
  • Familiarity with UI development concepts, including MVC design patterns, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Exposure to Python development, microservices, and containerized deployment environments such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience troubleshooting applications that integrate multiple subsystems (e.g., sensors, controllers, databases, and web services).
