About The Position

The Software Engineer will guide service resiliency, system architecture, and capacity planning for critical applications, balancing current usage with future growth. The role partners with application owners to remediate vulnerabilities and address security and infrastructure risks, and maintains resilience across operating environments, container orchestration platforms, cloud services, data platforms, and AI workspaces. Responsibilities also include setting up and operating workspaces for data scientists and analysts, managing model onboarding and retirement, and ensuring sufficient capacity for use cases. The engineer engages external vendors to resolve production issues; builds and operates production pipelines; sources vendor data through standardized integration methods; and deploys to on-premises and cloud environments using infrastructure-as-code practices. The role coordinates major incidents, conducts post-incident reviews and root-cause analysis, and drives problem management to prevent recurrence in accordance with policy and industry standards. The position requires substantial experience with service management, resilient platform integrations, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, cloud and data platforms, chaos engineering, incident management, observability, and production troubleshooting. It also involves coordinating cross-functional infrastructure, resiliency, and AI/ML platform initiatives across teams and departments. The role is based at 600 Travis St, Houston, TX 77002, and is full-time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as a Software Engineer, IT Project Manager, Computer Systems Analyst, Systems Engineer, or related occupation; alternatively, a Master's degree in one of these fields plus 5 years of such experience.
  • Five years of experience applying ITIL processes and best practices across the full service lifecycle, including Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement, to define service governance, operating procedures, controls, and continuous-improvement metrics.
  • Five years of experience designing, implementing, and operating resilient platform integrations and managing production traffic and controls through API Management, including capacity planning, throttling and rate-limiting, failure-mode design, and high-availability operational readiness.
  • Five years of experience building and operating automated delivery and infrastructure workflows using Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines; provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform; and engineering distributed platform components using AWS, Databricks, and Kafka.
  • Five years of experience designing and executing chaos engineering exercises using tools such as Gremlin, including controlled dependency failure, resource exhaustion, or load scenarios.
  • Five years of experience driving and owning Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes, including Sev-1 bridges, triage, service restoration, structured root-cause analysis, and durable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Five years of experience designing, implementing, and operating end-to-end observability solutions using Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and CloudWatch, including telemetry instrumentation, log, metric, and trace correlation, alert tuning, dashboarding, runbooks, and on-call readiness.
  • Five years of experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues in production using hypothesis-driven debugging and data-driven decision-making, and implementing systemic fixes that improve resiliency, reliability, and mean time to recovery.
  • Three years of experience driving end-to-end delivery of cross-functional infrastructure, resiliency, and AI/ML platform initiatives, including planning, dependency management, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and execution across multiple teams and departments.
