About The Position

As a senior or lead Engineer, you will help deliver high-quality, reliable, and secure technology that enables teams across Starbucks to build, release, and operate software confidently. The role owns complex engineering capabilities end-to-end and partners across business and technology teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

The position designs and operates reliable systems at scale, supports engineering delivery, ensures security and compliance by design, and influences technical direction and standards. Starbucks’ stated work arrangement is onsite four days a week.

Requirements

• 4–10 years of professional experience in software development or systems engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with one or more of Python, Java, Go, C/C++, Ruby, or Perl, especially for automation, tooling, and systems work.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate reliable systems at scale using high-availability solutions, service monitoring, deep telemetry, and automation to support performance, resiliency, and continuous availability.
• Support development teams, resolve complex technical and developer issues, and engineer robust build and release processes.
• Maintain stable, secure application and infrastructure solutions, hardened configurations and baselines, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Research and recommend tools, platforms, and best practices, and partner across teams and vendors to improve outcomes.
