About The Position

WRITER is seeking a fullstack software engineer to join its engineering team building AI-driven agent systems. The role focuses on designing, building, and scaling agents that execute autonomous workflows, orchestrate multi-step tasks, and integrate with enterprise data and services. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn complex agent concepts into production-ready systems. The role is open at multiple levels, with compensation ranges scaled to experience, expertise, and scope.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years of Python experience in production environments.
  • Proficiency in native agentic coding, demonstrated through daily use of tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or other agentic coding platforms.
  • Experience building distributed systems, microservices, or complex backend APIs supporting AI or agent workflows.
  • Expertise with systems integrating AI models, agent frameworks, vector databases, and large-context reasoning services.
  • Understanding of agent orchestration patterns, state management, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes; and operational engineering best practices.
  • Good grasp of performance optimization, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a “connect + challenge + own” mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Past work on AI agents that coordinate multi-step actions, reasoning, or autonomous decision-making loops.
  • Contributions to open-source agent toolkits or SDKs.
  • Experience with frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript for agent management interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure agent-driven services and systems that autonomously accomplish tasks using modern AI frameworks.
  • Develop and enhance robust infrastructure and high-throughput APIs, including agent capabilities for memory, communication channels, skills, decision logic, security, and workflow management.
  • Integrate agent capabilities with backend services, data stores, vector databases, search and retrieval systems, and external APIs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, AI researchers, data engineers, and UX teams to turn agent use cases into production-ready software.
  • Ensure reliability, monitoring, and observability for agent components, including metrics, logging, CI/CD, and fault tolerance.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and participate in code reviews to uphold quality and maintainability.

Benefits

  • Generous paid time off and company holidays.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents.
  • Fertility and family planning support.
  • Early-detection cancer testing through Galleri.
  • Flexible spending account and dependent FSA options.
  • Health savings account for eligible plans, with a company contribution.
