About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Distinguished Software Engineer to lead the design and development of Enterprise Feature Store platform. About the team: The Runtime Platform - Spectrum team manages Walmart’s critical platforms, including Experimentation, Pulse, RUM, Cloud Configuration Management, Secrets Management, and the Enterprise Feature Store. This team focuses on building scalable, reliable, and cloud-native systems that support intelligent automation and operational excellence. Members collaborate across engineering groups to deliver robust solutions, drive continuous improvement, and maintain high standards in design and execution. The team values technical leadership, innovation, and mentorship, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals while fostering a culture of quality and strategic impact at scale.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in designing and developing scalable Enterprise Feature Store is a must
  • Extensive experience in designing and developing scalable, cloud-native software systems and AI-powered platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead system-level technical execution with architectural integrity and operational excellence.
  • Strong expertise in integrating AI/ML components for intelligent automation and user-facing solutions.
  • Demonstrated skill in driving continuous improvement through automation, tooling enhancements, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of innovation, high standards, and technical excellence.
  • Solid judgment in making informed technical decisions balancing long-term system and business goals.
  • Effective collaboration and communication across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of scalable Enterprise Feature Store
  • Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Translate domain-level strategies into system-level implementations, ensuring architectural integrity and reliability.
  • Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and strategic architectural decisions.
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure consistent delivery, observability, and system resilience.
  • Mentor engineers across teams, fostering a culture of innovation, high standards, and continuous learning.
  • Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, improving system scalability and developer experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
