About The Position

The Marketplace Platform team at Walmart develops and maintains core platform services supporting global Marketplace verticals. Focused on reliability, quality API design, and platform consistency, the team manages high-traffic systems with strong ownership and technical excellence. They deliver foundational infrastructure empowering thousands of partners and internal teams. Collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement drive their approach, enabling effective problem solving and seamless integration across complex e-commerce ecosystems. This team plays a vital role in advancing Walmart’s technology roadmap and operational priorities, ensuring scalable, resilient, and high-performing platform solutions.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience leading the design and development of scalable, cloud-native software systems and AI-powered solutions.
  • Proven ability to translate domain-level strategies into reliable, high-quality system implementations with architectural integrity.
  • Strong expertise in operational excellence, including DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and incident management.
  • Demonstrated skill in mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in debugging, problem solving, and driving platform design and development aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Translate domain strategies into system-level implementations, ensuring architectural integrity and reliability across platforms.
  • Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and strategic architectural decisions.
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure resilient, observable, and performant services with proper instrumentation and alerting.
  • Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high standards in design, testing, and delivery.
  • Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, automating processes to enhance engineering velocity and system scalability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical solutions with business objectives and customer needs.
