About The Position

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors. We are looking for motivated and curious New College Graduates who are passionate about building high-quality software and eager to grow in a fast-paced engineering environment. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex problems, continuously learning new technologies, and contributing to impactful products from day one. As an NCG Software Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications. You will gain exposure to modern software development practices while collaborating across teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript, Python, and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Exposure to REST APIs, web development, or backend services is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using modern development practices.
  • Build responsive and efficient web applications using JavaScript and Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js and Python.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and senior engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure robust and maintainable code.
  • Continuously learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies while contributing innovative ideas to improve development processes.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability by learning, unlearning, and adopting better engineering practices as technologies evolve.
