Software Engineer - Fern
About The Position
Fern, a Postman company, helps software companies build API experiences. As a Software Engineer, you will build APIs, scale AI infrastructure, and design developer experiences used by millions. You will work on AI systems deployed on Vercel, AWS, and Turbopuffer, ensuring they remain performant, reliable, and secure under real-world workloads. You will work directly with API teams at customers such as Nvidia, Twilio, and Square to troubleshoot production edge cases, incorporate customer feedback into API design, and ship improvements quickly. You will also collaborate with product designers and frontend engineers using TypeScript and Next.js to create polished interfaces and user experiences. Fern describes its team as small and talent-dense, with a focus on open source, developer experience, and building for the increasing use of AI agents to implement API integrations. The role is based in the New York City team context. Postman values in-person collaboration and requires employees in its listed hubs, including New York City, to work in the office five days a week.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for solving technical problems with customers.
- A strong appreciation for craft and developer experience, and an interest in building open-source software.
