About The Position

As a Software Engineer within PNC's Retail Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH. As a Software Engineer, you will focus on designing, developing, and supporting modern full-stack web applications, with a strong emphasis on both backend development using Java and Spring Boot and frontend development using Angular and modern UI technologies. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who enjoys building intuitive user experiences, developing scalable APIs, and working across the full software development lifecycle. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of customer-focused applications while partnering closely with product owners, architects, designers, and fellow engineers.

Requirements

Professional experience developing enterprise web applications.
Experience with Java and object-oriented programming principles.
Experience developing applications using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
Experience building front-end applications using Angular.
Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
Experience using Git-based source control systems.
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
University / college degree, with 2+ years of relevant professional experience. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Experience with UI component libraries such as Angular Material, PrimeNG, or similar frameworks.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack web applications using Java and Angular.
Build and enhance responsive, user-friendly interfaces that deliver an exceptional user experience.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Spring Boot.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement modern, accessible, and responsive user interfaces.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
Create and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application quality.
Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment.
Support application deployments and participate in ongoing operational support activities.
Contribute to technical design discussions and solution architecture reviews.
Develops, tests and implements software solutions.
Designs software solutions to address business needs.
Writes code, tests and deploys software.
Prepares technical and procedural documentation required for software.
Maintains and debugs software.
