About The Position

Intuitive is seeking a Software Engineer to build and evolve a modern, scalable Data as a Service (DaaS) platform that powers its digital products and supports more than 2,000 engineers. The role owns critical components of real-time and micro-batch data pipelines used for product development, internal tools, and analytics. The engineer will enable high-throughput, low-latency data delivery through streaming pipelines, dynamic transformations, and APIs, helping teams discover, access, and act on data. The position contributes to the architecture and engineering practices supporting self-service analytics and operational decision-making, while modernizing legacy processes and enabling teams to work with greater speed and autonomy. The role designs and builds distributed data systems for robotic, manufacturing, engineering, and clinical sources; develops APIs and tooling for secure access to high-quality data; and works with stakeholders on consistent data contracts and models. It also supports automated testing, data quality, service reliability, and schema evolution through CI/CD practices. The engineer contributes technical leadership, mentoring, and best practices across the data domain. This is a fully onsite, day-shift employee position. Intuitive notes that vaccination proof may be required depending on the role or customer. The role may be filled at a different level based on business needs and the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Compensation depends on job level and qualifications. Preference is given to qualified candidates who do not reside or plan to reside in Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, or Tennessee. Certain roles may be subject to U.S. export controls, and offers for affected roles are contingent on any required export license and/or Technology Control Plan.

  • Proficiency in at least two major programming languages, such as Python, Go, Scala, C++, or Java.
  • Strong understanding of software design and architecture.
  • Proven experience building data pipelines and working with distributed systems.
  • Experience with technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Snowflake, and Airflow.
  • Strong collaboration skills, including contributions to code reviews, system design discussions, sprint planning, and KPI evaluations.
  • At least a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on Data Platform or Infrastructure Engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Apache Airflow, Snowflake, and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD best practices for DataOps and deployment automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable, distributed Data as a Service systems that ingest, process, and serve data from robotics, manufacturing, engineering, and clinical sources in real-time and batch modes.
  • Develop and maintain robust APIs, data services, and tooling that give internal teams secure, efficient, and intuitive access to high-quality data.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to evolve data contracts and models for emerging use cases and semantic consistency.
  • Implement CI/CD practices for data services, including automated testing for data quality, service reliability, and schema evolution.
  • Promote a self-service data culture by creating discoverable, well-documented data products and guiding teams toward autonomous data access.
  • Provide technical leadership in the data domain, drive best practices, mentor teammates, and continuously improve how data is produced, shared, and consumed.
