About The Position

As a Software Engineer on OnePay’s Banking team, you will help build the services customers use to access, move, and manage their money. The role spans scalable banking services and reliable real-time money movement, with an emphasis on customer trust and a seamless mobile experience. You will lead technical design and delivery, set engineering standards, own approaches to complex challenges, mentor engineers, and work with product, design, risk, and compliance partners. You will also maintain clear documentation for a growing, remote organization. OnePay uses TypeScript, Node.js and NestJS for server code, React Native for iOS, Android, and web clients, and a distributed cloud-native stack built on Kubernetes and AWS. The company also supports agentic development tools, including Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. Experience with the exact stack is not required; familiarity with modern software engineering practices can help you ramp up.

Requirements

At least 7 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering, including technical leadership of projects or teams.
Proven success designing, building, and scaling production-grade APIs and distributed systems; experience in banking, payments, or other regulated financial services is ideal.
Experience with sensitive financial data and money movement systems, such as ledgers, account management, ACH, or card processing.
Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript or similar modern backend frameworks.
Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and AWS.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions across teams.
Drive and proactivity.

Nice To Haves

Experience with mobile or user-facing applications, ideally React Native.
Experience in banking, payments, or other regulated financial services.
Familiarity with OnePay’s technology stack and modern software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

Lead technical design and delivery of banking features that scale with the customer base and support a seamless mobile experience.
Set architectural standards and best practices for code quality, performance, security, and reliability across banking services.
Own technical approaches to complex challenges at scale, including sensitive financial data and real-time money movement.
Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
Partner with product, design, risk, and compliance to shape the roadmap and deliver high-quality software.
Create and maintain clear documentation.
