About The Position

Amentum is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to join its U.S. Navy advanced technology development team. The role focuses on coding, optimization, and improving software speed and efficiency in a research and development setting. The primary work locations are Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, Virginia, with occasional telecommuting or travel opportunities. The position requires commuting to the work location and occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, and/or Physics, with entry-level experience.
Active Secret U.S. government clearance; U.S. citizenship is required to maintain a Secret clearance.
Knowledge of software requirements definition and management, design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, the software development lifecycle, architecture, and documentation.
Experience in an Agile software development environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools, including Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for decision tracking.
Familiarity with source code tracking tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
Ability to commute to Fredericksburg or Dahlgren, Virginia.
Valid Real ID driver’s license and reliable transportation; rideshare options are not permitted because the role requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

Nice To Haves

Experience with C++ or C# (preferred).

Responsibilities

Develop graphical user interfaces for local tools in collaboration with their users.
Develop software updates using C++, Rational Team Concert, GitLab, and other DevOps tools.
Support test events, including through travel.
Plan, perform, and lead software design, coding, and testing.
