Software Engineer
About The Position
The Real-time Software Engineering team is hiring for a Software Engineer. Software engineers at Cboe design, develop, deploy, and support real-time systems. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in microseconds and nanoseconds. Our engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering. We are analytical thinkers. We are always learning our craft. If it’s broken, we fix it. If it needs refactoring, we refactor it. If it’s hard to test, we make it testable. We like statistics. We love automation. We are pragmatic. We ship code weekly. We’re looking for like-minded individuals to join us.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with C++ or experience in another programming language with a strong desire to learn C++.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with Linux or UNIX-like systems and familiarity with at least one scripting language such as Python.
- Experience with database systems and familiarity with SQL.
- A self-directed, self-motivated attitude with enthusiasm for continuous learning, especially from constructive feedback.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of financial exchanges.
- Knowledge of network programming fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Implement performant, reliable, and maintainable solutions to technical projects within the Cboe Titanium exchange platform – with guidance and support from peers and mentors.
- Ensure your solutions are well tested, both by your own testing and in collaboration with our QA team.
- Participate in reviews of both your solutions and those of other engineers.
