About The Position

Apple's Video Engineering group is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer focused on data application development, data pipeline engineering, and database systems. The role sits at the intersection of software, data, and machine learning, and the work directly affects the quality of next-generation Apple products.

The team bridges Algorithm, Quality Assurance, and User Studies teams. It builds the data applications, pipelines, and database systems that enable Apple to collect, manage, and process data at scale.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 1 year of Python experience.
• At least 1 year of experience designing and developing data pipelines or data applications.
• At least 1 year of experience with a major cloud platform, such as AWS or an equivalent internal platform.
• Strong proficiency with Git, REST APIs, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data modeling, schema design, and database performance optimization.
• Familiarity with software design patterns and system design principles, including scalability, reliability, modularity, and separation of concerns.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering best practices.
• Proficiency in prompt engineering and AI-assisted development workflows, including applying them to complex debugging, architectural trade-offs, or automation tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark, Airflow, or Kafka, or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL/ELT patterns, and large-scale analytics workflows.
• Experience designing end-to-end systems and making trade-offs involving performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities and tight timelines.
• Curiosity and drive to explore technologies, including AI/LLM tools, to improve workflows and solve novel problems.
• Experience building internal tooling or lightweight web interfaces such as React, Flask, or FastAPI to complement backend or data work.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• A builder mentality, taking ownership, moving quickly, and caring about the quality of shipped work.
