About The Position

As a Software Engineer in Lam Research’s Global Products Group, you will design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs and tools that support product design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. The role contributes across Lam’s equipment portfolio within a centralized software engineering team, working with cross-functional colleagues to integrate software and hardware and deliver enhancements and new products.

You will implement customer requirements and features, maintain and improve existing applications, and document solutions using clear technical documentation, flowcharts, and well-structured code. The role may include customer-site support and travel of less than 10% of the time. You will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.

The position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for employees in the Metal Technology Industries, occupation group F, depending on educational background. Higher payment is negotiable based on expertise and skills. Salary is paid monthly, 14 times per year. Lam describes a range of work-location models, including hybrid arrangements, but does not specify which model applies to this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience; or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience; or a PhD with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of object-oriented software, object-oriented design, or object-oriented programming implementation and design, including design patterns and finite state machines.
• Knowledge of multithreading, including preemptive thread scheduling.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.

Nice To Haves

• Prior semiconductor equipment experience.
• Experience in distributed embedded controls systems.
• Software development skills in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as C++ or C#.
