Reporting directly to the eServices Manager, the Software Engineer is responsible for creating and deploying web-based solutions, utilizing both front-end and back-end technologies. The role involves identifying deficiencies in current systems and workflows, and implementing improvements. Additionally, the Software Engineer will collaborate with other Business Unit leaders to address existing business challenges and integrate new technological solutions. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Architecture & Development: Back-End Leadership: Design and development of robust back-end architectures using .NET (Core/6+) and C#. Ensure services are modular, maintainable, and scalable. Front-End Excellence: Architect and implement responsive, user-friendly frontend interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js) alongside HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript. Full Lifecycle Ownership: Manage the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements gathering and system design to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Data Integration & Management: Data Consumption: Expertly consume and integrate complex data from various sources, including RESTful APIs, and legacy SOAP services. Webhooks & Event-Driven Design: Design and implement webhook architectures and event-driven systems to ensure real-time data synchronization across platforms. Database Mastery: Design, optimize, and maintain complex relational databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL). Write high-performance stored procedures and optimize query execution plans. Engineering Excellence (CI/CD & DevOps): Automation: Establish and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure frequent, reliable, and secure code deployments. Version Control: Lead best practices in version control, including branching strategies, code reviews, and pull request management. Quality Assurance: Drive the implementation of unit testing, integration testing, and automated UI testing to maintain high code quality and reduce regressions. Collaboration & Strategy: Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with product managers, executives, and department heads to translate business needs into technical specifications and architectural designs. Security First: Implement industry-standard security practices (OWASP) to protect sensitive financial data and ensure applications are free from vulnerabilities. Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify technical debt and system deficiencies, proposing and implementing modern solutions to improve efficiency and scalability. Expectations: To stay informed of software development trends affecting the tech and financial industry. Implement action plans to position the CU for the future. Establish and maintain effective relationships with user departments, senior managers and vendors. Ensure that all applications meet CU, user and member needs. Ensure compliance with CU policies and procedures. Must be able to multitask. Performs other related duties as assigned. Ensure that all Information Services web development efforts are supportive of SCU's strategies and objectives, including meeting or exceeding targets in areas of responsibility, as established by your manager. Comply with SCU web development standards.
