About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join their team of qualified diverse individuals. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct. This position will be primarily located in Palmdale, CA, but may consider El Segundo, or Rancho Bernardo, CA as possible work locations. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years related engineering experience (for Software Engineer).
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years related engineering experience (for Principal Software Engineer).
  • Experience with a Coding Language.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning.
  • Design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
  • Prepare operating instructions.
  • Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensure software standards are met.
  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned.
  • Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision.
