About The Position

The Snowflake Platform Engineering team builds software for data engineers bringing data in and out of M&T's central data ecosystem. This role will participate in the design, delivery, and evolution of core platform capabilities, including framework enhancements, new data engineering patterns, performance optimization, and resiliency improvements. A Software Engineer on this team develops Python application code and tests, works with senior engineers to design applications, and supports existing applications and users.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience OR Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year systems analysis and/or application development work experience. In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of systems analysis and/or application development work experience.
  • Professional proficiency in a minimum of 1 relevant programming language
  • Python (Object Oriented Programming), PyTest, Pydantic, FastAPI
  • Snowflake, Databricks, SQL, RDBMS, ETL
  • CI/CD
  • Gitlab, Terraform, Ansible
  • Linux, Cloud Compute (Azure)

Responsibilities

  • Build and support core ingestion / transformation / deployment frameworks
  • Drive standardization across Medallion architecture patterns
  • Partner with product teams on performance + resiliency improvements
  • Support production stability and platform governance
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
