As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC Technology organization, you will be based in Dallas TX. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. You will be part of a team focused on ServiceMesh Automation, and will lead the design and engineering of self-service automation to be used by teams whose applications run on our platform. This includes the ownership of architecture, deployments, lifecycle management, access management, observability, and scalability of our products. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale automation with a high level of resiliency and security, along with expertise in Python, Ansible, Kubernetes, Istio Service Mesh, DevOps/GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and the Software Development Lifecycle. This role requires strong communication abilities and a close partnership with cross-functional teams across PNC. Highly qualified candidates will have direct experience installing and administering Tetrate Service Bridge and related infrastructure in an enterprise environment.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Python, Ansible, Kubernetes, Istio Service Mesh, DevOps/GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale automation with a high level of resiliency and security.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Close partnership with cross-functional teams across PNC.
  • University / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience installing and administering Tetrate Service Bridge and related infrastructure in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and engineering of service mesh capabilities
  • Improve platform reliability, observability, & performance
  • Automate platform operations and onboarding
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and incident support
  • Define and enforce engineering standards and best practices
  • Collaborate across engineering and product teams
  • Aligns business strategy with software solutions.
  • Proposes, designs & codes software solutions to address complex business needs.
  • Oversees technical and procedural documentation required.
  • Leads complex problem solving.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.
  • Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.
