You will be a member of the Map Enablement team, designing and implementing performant mapping data processing pipelines and navigation systems that scale with Torc's commercial expansion. You'll work with limited upfront specification, translating ambiguous or evolving requirements from engineering teams that consume Map Enablement's data into concrete technical designs, then turning their feedback into shipped features.

Torc's Map Enablement team is looking for a Software Engineer to help deliver and scale its mapping and routing system in preparation for Torc's commercial expansion. A strong technical foundation in delivering data processing pipelines and APIs is important for this role, along with the judgment to make sound design decisions when requirements are loosely defined. This individual will collaborate with engineering teams that use Map Enablement's software, creating tailored solutions and turning feedback into features.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 6+ years of experience OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 3+ years of experience.
• Solid knowledge of at least one programming language (C++, Python), Python preferred.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, EventBridge, Glue, Athena).
• Experience building and operating high-throughput data processing pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to work through vague or shifting requirements and independently propose a technical path forward.
• Strong technical communication skills, written and verbal, that scale across a diverse workforce.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and debug complex software defects.
• Experience with source control and agile workflows such as GitHub and JIRA

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of geospatial data concepts and tools (GeoJSON, PostGIS, QGIS, OSM, etc.)
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques for geospatial data analysis
• Experience with high-definition mapping
• Experience scaling autonomous systems
• Prior experience in navigation or the automotive industry
