Senior Software Engineer, App Enablement

Hinge Health•San Francisco, CA
•Hybrid

About The Position

Hinge Health’s App Enablement team supports the production systems and shared platform capabilities that help mobile engineering teams deliver dependable changes. The team owns the path from code merge through app-store release, as well as platform capabilities that enable product teams to build efficiently and consistently. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to both mobile release operations and platform engineering, with your focus shifting as team priorities change. Work may include improving build, CI, release, and rollout systems, and building or maintaining shared capabilities such as the mobile-specific API layer, server-driven UI, navigation, deep links, and reusable media components. You will partner with engineering, Quality Engineering, release partners, and product teams. This is a hands-on role with broad impact across the mobile organization. The role follows Hinge Health’s hybrid model: employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office three days per week for the full eight hours of a typical business day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience building and operating production software, including hands-on delivery from investigation through rollout and sound testing, debugging, and code-review practices.
  • Experience in mobile application or platform engineering, or mobile build and release systems, with a working understanding of the iOS and Android delivery lifecycle and willingness to contribute across both areas.
  • Experience improving CI/CD or developer tooling through automation, observability, or systematic problem-solving.
  • Clear and timely communication, including raising risks with context and helping teams make decisions and move work forward.
  • Curiosity about unfamiliar systems, openness to feedback, and willingness to use incidents, metrics, and reviews to improve work.
  • Ability to thoughtfully evaluate approved AI-assisted tools and validate generated changes with tests and running software.
  • Urgency and creativity in addressing release and reliability problems while applying sound judgment and preserving release safety.
  • Ownership of commitments and outcomes from investigation through rollout and follow-up, with prompt communication about gaps.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach to identifying gaps, proposing practical direction, and helping peers improve.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting React Native or another cross-platform mobile application alongside native iOS or Android build workflows.
  • Experience designing or maintaining shared mobile-platform capabilities, such as mobile-specific APIs that shape backend data for the app, server-driven UI, navigation, deep links, or reusable media components.
  • Familiarity with mobile build services such as Bitrise or similar tools, source-control automation, app signing, and app-store release management.
  • Experience diagnosing intermittent or recurring mobile CI failures and improving build pipeline reliability or speed.
  • Experience with dependency-update automation, mobile security updates, platform-policy changes, or release-compliance preparation.
  • Experience designing release-readiness checks, staged rollouts, health monitoring, or rollback workflows.
  • Experience measuring pipeline performance and reliability, then using the evidence to prioritize improvements.
  • Experience coordinating releases across mobile engineering, Quality Engineering, product teams, and platform partners.
  • Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, design discussions, documentation, or shared operational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain tooling for mobile builds, release candidates, app-store submissions, and phased rollouts.
  • Build and evolve shared mobile-platform capabilities, including the mobile-specific API layer, server-driven UI, navigation, deep links, and reusable media components, in partnership with product pods.
  • Improve the reliability, speed, and observability of mobile CI and release pipelines; investigate recurring failures and reduce manual toil with durable fixes.
  • Coordinate release readiness, blocker triage, communication, and resolution with the teams responsible for affected changes.
  • Improve dependency management and mobile code-quality practices, including responses to security updates and iOS and Android ecosystem changes.
  • Reduce friction for feature teams with practical developer tools, documentation, and guidance, while respecting Quality Engineering’s ownership of test automation and sign-off.
  • Define and improve release-readiness checks, staged-rollout safeguards, monitoring, and rollback practices so teams can detect and respond to release risk.
  • Measure pipeline and release performance, identify recurring bottlenecks, and use evidence to prioritize improvements and communicate impact.
  • Balance delivery speed, release safety, maintainability, and compliance.
  • Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and shared operational practices.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Support for employees and family members with gender-affirming care, family and fertility planning tools, and travel reimbursements when healthcare is not available where they live.
  • Traditional or Roth 401(k) retirement plan options with a 2% company match.
  • Learning and development stipends.
  • Discounted company stock through an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) with payroll deductions.
  • Dog-friendly workplace program at the San Francisco office.
