Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Whatnot is seeking intellectually curious, highly motivated individuals for a 12-16 week hybrid internship during Summer 2027. Interns will work in cross-functional multidisciplinary teams, directly impacting the platform's direction. Their code and ideas will contribute to solving complex technical challenges and defining future engineering initiatives. Potential projects include building new features for live-streams, implementing growth tactics for buyer and seller flows, and developing systems for a high-trust marketplace. The internship aims to provide contributions to a fast-growing marketplace while developing core industry skills in project ideation, management, and collaboration. The role offers flexibility for remote work or working from global office hubs, with an emphasis on in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members must reside within commuting distance of the New York City, San Francisco, or other global hubs during the internship.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in computer science or other related major graduating in Dec 2027 or by Summer 2028
- Some industry software engineering experience
- Problem solver and out-of-the-box thinker
- Willing to take risks and build product and systems for 1M+ users
- Ability to pick up on new technologies quickly
- Must live within commuting distance of our New York City or San Francisco or hubs during the internship
