About The Position

We are OCV LLC, a company specializing in mobile app development for law enforcement, public safety, emergency management, and public health agencies for over 15 years. Our custom apps for iPhone and Android devices help public safety organizations connect with citizens via their smartphones. We are seeking a motivated Software Engineer Part-Time Intern to work on-site at our headquarters in Opelika, Alabama. This role will contribute to the daily development queue, assisting with new application builds and providing ongoing support for hundreds of Android and iOS applications, websites, and related digital products.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university studying computer science, software engineering, information systems or other related field.
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Working knowledge of JSON and command-line tools
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow established processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, and motivated to learn in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Participate in onboarding and technical training under the mentorship of a senior developer.
  • Learn and apply version control and testing practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Android and iOS applications through OCV’s proprietary systems.
  • Collaborate with Support and Project Management teams to resolve client issues and support production workflows.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and technical standards.
