About The Position

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their Avionics Test Engineering team in Burnsville, Minnesota. This internship, running from May through August 2027, offers exposure to a wide variety of test solutions throughout their life cycle. The role requires a fast learner capable of responding efficiently to requests. Daily activities include designing and developing test software, generating requirements, validating and verifying tests, troubleshooting test solutions, and updating documentation. Interns will assist in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems via test software, and resolve technical problems by troubleshooting software issues on the production line. They will gain knowledge of architecture and system design for electrical equipment and systems, and assist in analyzing new or improved electronic components. A key part of the role is developing test software per requirements and ensuring its validation and verification before production release.

Requirements

  • Student pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background in software engineering and or computer science.
  • Basic understanding of Electronics and Electrical Design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems via test software.
  • Resolve day-to-day technical problems by troubleshooting software problems on the production line.
  • Gain knowledge about architecture and system design of electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Assist in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components.
  • Develop test software per requirements and ensure complete validation and verification of your test software before releasing to production.
