About The Position

Quadrillion is a startup building Qualia, an agentic research platform that functions similarly to Jupyter or VS Code but with AI agents capable of performing actual research. Our platform is designed for ML researchers, quants, and data scientists, enabling them to manage entire research projects from a single prompt. The team consists of 12 individuals based in NYC, supported by $18.3 million in funding from investors such as Conviction, Audacious, Bloomberg Beta, ex/ante, and Wes McKinney. We boast one of the strongest AI teams in NYC, with members having prior experience at HRT, Google Research, Citadel, and Jane Street. As an intern, you will undertake the same responsibilities as a full-time Quadrillion engineer, which includes shipping real product changes, resolving customer-reported bugs, and developing new features. We are seeking interns for two primary groups: Agent Engineering, which focuses on the core infrastructure for agent orchestration, sandboxed environments for experiments, API design, and scaling infrastructure for speed and reliability; and Product, which is responsible for building a robust user interface for agent interaction and management, available as a desktop application (Mac/Windows) and on the cloud.

Requirements

Strong full-stack or backend engineering experience, especially with Python
Comfort working in unfamiliar codebases
Ability to move quickly in a zero-to-one environment
Current undergraduate student at a US or Canadian university
Sophomore or junior preferred, but open to freshmen

Significant engineering chops in either Python or React

Responsibilities

Build effective systems for agent orchestration, improving the core system's ability to reason over long horizons, run parallel experiments, and manage knowledge.
Scale environments for agent experiments and training, building sandboxed compute for complex, high-performance experiments and scaling it to tens of thousands of concurrent deployments.
Expand agent capabilities and deployment options by building and deploying tools and integrations that connect Qualia to customer data sources and external systems.
