About The Position

Join our Embedded Payments team as Sr. Software Engineer in Test in India to make a real impact every day. We say that because we know that every conversation we have, every code line we write and every interface we design is another opportunity for us to elevate everyday life experiences for our customers and the people and communities they serve. Reporting into the Director of Software Engineering, you will join a QA team that already has strong Playwright-based automation in place and a clear engineering direction. You won’t be figuring it out alone — you’ll work within a structure led by a Sr. Software Engineer in Test who owns the framework architecture and sets the technical standard, with a Sr. QA Automation Engineer driving execution coverage alongside you. This role is for someone with solid automation fundamentals who is ready to grow into test engineering. You’ll contribute to the framework, build out API and async test coverage, run load test scenarios, and collaborate closely with the Sr. SET to develop the skills and habits that define a strong test engineer. Our platform is a cloud-native, event-driven payment orchestration system processing high transaction volumes across multiple clients and acquirers. Load testing and async workflow validation are not edge cases here — they are core to how we define done.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in test engineering or a related technical discipline; Bachelor’s in a technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Solid programming fundamentals in Node.js and/or TypeScript — able to write clean, maintainable test code including utilities and helpers within an existing framework.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright — comfortable working inside an established test suite, extending coverage, and improving reliability.
  • Exposure to load and performance testing — running scenarios with tooling like k6, JMeter, or Artillery and interpreting results.
  • Familiarity with async, event-driven testing concepts — understanding of eventual consistency, retry behavior, and idempotency as they apply to test design.
  • Familiarity with AWS messaging primitives: SQS, EventBridge, Lambda — enough to understand how async workflows behave and where they can fail.
  • Experience with API testing across RESTful services using Postman or equivalent tooling.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipeline integration and automated test execution (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud platforms and how distributed services interact.
  • Experience with test management tooling (Jira, XRay, Zephyr, or similar).
  • Demonstrated habit of using AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) as part of daily engineering work.
  • Comfortable working in agile environments and contributing as a technical peer.
  • Clear communicator who can articulate quality risk to engineers and product stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the test framework established by the Sr. SET — contributing to Playwright suite maintenance, shared utilities, and test data scaffolding.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. SET and Sr. QA Automation Engineer to expand coverage across UI, API, and integration test layers.
  • Execute load and performance test scenarios against critical payment workflows using tooling such as k6, JMeter, or Artillery — and communicate findings clearly to the team.
  • Build test coverage for async, event-driven workflows — validating SQS-driven processes, EventBridge patterns, and Lambda invocations where outcomes are eventual rather than immediate.
  • Test for correctness in async financial operations: retry logic, idempotency, dead letter queue handling, and state consistency across distributed service boundaries.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline test integration — supporting quality gates and helping maintain signal quality across the pipeline.
  • Expand API and contract test coverage across microservices, catching integration failures before they reach production.
  • Review user stories for testability and raise quality concerns early in the development cycle.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) as a daily part of your workflow — for test authoring, coverage gap analysis, and smarter triage.
  • Contribute to quality observability: coverage trends, flakiness tracking, and test metrics.

Benefits

  • Paid Parental Leave benefit programs
  • #GiveBackDays/Commitment to social impact – 3 extra days off to volunteer and give back to your local community
  • Ongoing dedication to Diversity & Inclusion initiatives such as D&I Council, Global Mentorship Program
  • Access to free mental health support
  • Flexible working arrangements
