About The Position

Join our Embedded Payments as FullStack Software Engineer to make a real impact every day. We say that because we know that every conversation we have, every code line we write and every interface we design is another opportunity for us to elevate everyday life experiences for our customers and the people and communities they serve. Reporting into Software Engineering Manager, you will help us build and scale our cloud-native payment orchestration platform that processes significant transaction volume across multiple Xplor brands. You are passionate about building scalable systems and great user experiences while maintaining software development best practices. You write code that is thoughtful end-to-end — from the API contract down to the database, and from the data model up through the UI. You're comfortable owning features across the stack and collaborating closely with backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps engineers to deliver high-quality software.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a Computer Science/Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Strong Node.js experience and demonstrated ability to ship production backend services
  • Experience building React-based frontends that consume RESTful APIs
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and clear understanding of separation of concerns in service design
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Git, agile delivery (Scrum preferred), and testing frameworks like Jest
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) and an articulate point of view on where they help and where they don't
  • Comfortable working on a 100% remote team and able to operate independently within an agile group

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or operating payments systems — payment orchestration, tokenization, acquirer integrations (Worldpay, Stripe, Adyen, Finix, Basis Theory), or PCI-compliant environments
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures (SQS, EventBridge, Kafka)
  • Exposure to observability tooling (SigNoz, Grafana, Datadog, etc.)
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform)

Responsibilities

  • Execute the full software development lifecycle across both backend services and frontend interfaces
  • Design and build well-tested, well-documented features that span APIs, data models, and UI
  • Produce technical specifications and assess operational feasibility for new payments features
  • Integrate components into cohesive, production-ready systems with appropriate observability
  • Contribute to verification plans, quality assurance procedures, and deployment guardrails
  • Maintain and improve existing functionality, including documentation
  • Participate in deployment planning, on-call rotations, and incident response as part of running a payments platform
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve velocity without compromising quality
  • Stay current with platform updates, security practices, and PCI compliance requirements
