About The Position

The (USA) Software Engineer III will contribute to the design and development of software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams during project discovery and implementation phases. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and delivering sustainable, high-quality code aligned with business requirements. The engineer will manage complex projects, support continuous integration and deployment, and provide technical guidance to small engineering groups. A strong focus on problem-solving, technical acumen, and adherence to coding and security standards is essential to ensure timely delivery and operational excellence. The Walmart Fulfillment Engine (WFE) team delivers accurate fulfillment options across Walmart’s broad product range, including groceries, entertainment, sporting goods, and crafts. This team develops and maintains applications that determine optimal delivery dates and shipping or pickup choices. Working closely with cross-functional teams, WFE focuses on scalable and reliable solutions to enhance customer satisfaction. The team embraces continuous improvement by leveraging advanced technologies and best practices to ensure high-quality software aligned with Walmart’s platform and business objectives. Requirements

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming and coding standards using languages such as Java, JavaScript or Python.
  • Strong experience in platform design, API development, and component services with a focus on scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in iterative and incremental development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies, defect management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and guide small engineering teams to deliver on project goals.
  • Technical acumen in emerging technologies including generative artificial intelligence and telemetry implementation.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product, project, business, and user experience teams to design high-level solutions for small to medium projects.
  • Develop, write, and test code ensuring alignment with technical and business requirements, security, and scalability standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues through root cause analysis and coordinated action plans.
  • Manage complex projects by translating requirements into sustainable technical solutions and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Support users by providing technical guidance and identifying effective implementation strategies.
  • Mentor and guide small engineering teams, including offshore associates, to meet project goals.
  • Implement automation scripts and telemetry features to enhance continuous integration and delivery processes.
