About The Position

Software Engineers play a foundational role in building the software that powers Best Egg’s products and platforms. These engineers design, implement, test, and support features in collaboration with cross-functional Agile teams while continuously improving systems, tooling, and engineering practices. Best Egg is a market-leading, tech-enabled financial platform helping people build financial confidence through a variety of installment lending solutions and financial health tools. Barclays has entered into an agreement to acquire Best Egg with closing expected to take place in Q2 2026. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional development experience with Java and or Python.
• Intermediate experience delivering production-quality features in modern languages.
• Solid understanding of relational/NoSQL schema design and query patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment workflows.
• Ability to produce technical documentation and participate in design discussions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver software iteratively and incrementally under guidance.
• Implement small features and bug fixes with coaching from senior engineers.
• Write unit tests and follow established testing utilities and patterns.
• Ask for clarification early, communicate progress, and escalate blockers quickly.
• Perform unit, integration, and regression testing and strengthen test coverage.
• Interpret, refine, and challenge business requirements; document technical decisions.
• Support deployments, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to operational readiness.
