TD is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Technology Solutions team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This role involves developing new solutions, features, and performing unit/component testing for application development initiatives. The engineer will support business activities through enhancements and break/fix implementations, potentially including peer code reviews. Collaboration with technology partners is key to ensure custom components meet application requirements and performance goals. The role requires analyzing technical requirements, recommending engineering solutions, and estimating coding efforts. The engineer will also work with stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions align with technical direction, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals. Monitoring product lifecycles, documenting system components, and participating in quality management reviews are also part of the responsibilities. The role involves creating and maintaining quality code, ensuring defect-free programming, and providing post-production support. Technical expertise during incident management, including impact assessment and communication, is expected. The engineer will assist in developing and maintaining processes for issue prevention and participate in problem determination and resolution. Additionally, the role involves adhering to enterprise frameworks, managing programs and policies, and collaborating with stakeholders to proactively prevent defects. Continuous improvement, automation, and cost minimization are encouraged. The engineer will conduct code reviews, monitor service and productivity, and implement process improvements. Leading remediation plans for performance, risk, or governance issues, managing relationships with business lines and control functions, and escalating non-standard, high-risk activities are also required. Staying updated on emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements is essential. Maintaining a culture of risk management and control is a core aspect of the role. Teamwork, supporting a positive work environment, knowledge transfer, and staying current with industry trends are expected. The engineer will participate in personal development activities, keep others informed of project status, mentor team members, and provide guidance. Leading and motivating relationships with business partners and stakeholders to develop productive working relationships is important. The position requires advanced knowledge of specific domains or a range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures, as well as organizational issues. The engineer will perform complex to difficult technical tasks independently, possess advanced knowledge of technology, tools, various programming languages, processes, and procedures, and develop program specifications. They will adapt, integrate, code, test, and debug programs, and execute these tasks. The role involves using existing procedures to solve routine problems with limited exceptions and generally reporting to a Practice Lead.
