About The Position

Iridium is seeking a Software Engineer II for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. This role is within the Ground Systems Development team, focusing on software development and maintenance for mission software and supporting applications. The engineer will gain experience in mission planning, data routing, and management, working autonomously to deliver high-quality work and drive projects to completion within the larger development team to support cross-functional efforts across all areas of ground system software development.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or other engineering discipline
• 2+ years’ software programming and/or software support experience
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, Java, or similar)
• Coding experience on Agile based teams
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
• Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
• Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
• Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
• Work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

Nice To Haves

• Experience with XML / JSON / SQL
• Experience with No SQL based DBs (e.g., Mongo)
• Experience with Atlassian management/software development tools: Jira / Git / Bitbucket / Crucible / Confluence and/or Gitlab
• Experience with Micro services architectures
• Experience with AWS cloud environments

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with your team to develop and enhance software related to the SDA project
• Assist in developing optimized code for both scalability and performance
• Work within the Agile/Scrum framework for software development
• Play a role in creating and/or maintaining build environments for software products
• Work within team objectives to assist in planning and executing software releases per stakeholder/program schedules and budgets
• Update issue/feature data in Atlassian Project/Software tracking tools
• Follow existing Iridium processes for Change Control, Prioritization, Risk Management, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) Management, Build, and Test software deployments and use knowledge to assist in development of process/procedure documentation materials
• Edit, structure, and present data, concepts, and arguments clearly and succinctly, through briefings and documentation
• Respond to questions within scope from stakeholders
