About The Position

Bentley Systems is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and build web-based viewing and collaboration experiences for Bentley Infrastructure Cloud (BIC). The team develops an embedded 3D/digital-twin viewer and feature modules that help engineers, owners, and contractors review, mark up, and collaborate on infrastructure projects. The work involves a TypeScript/React codebase built on iTwin.js and Cesium to render large-scale iModels, Reality Data, and geospatial data in the browser and support related workflows. This is a hybrid role based in Exton/Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with three days per week in the office. Minimal travel is required. The engineer will build frontend features, maintain micro-frontend packages in a pnpm monorepo, and deliver reliable, tested code. The role includes participating in code reviews and agile/Scrum practices, documenting technical decisions, and supporting colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing. Bentley offers a collaborative work environment, an attractive salary and benefits package, a volunteer day through Bentley Impact Day, colleague recognition programs, and initiatives supporting inclusion, belonging, and colleague wellbeing. Bentley describes its work as advancing infrastructure for a more sustainable, connected, and resilient world.

Requirements

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in computer science or software engineering, or relevant training and/or experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in frontend development with TypeScript and React.
  • Experience with frontend unit and end-to-end testing, such as Jest or Vitest and Playwright.
  • Knowledge of data structures and object-oriented programming.
  • Working experience with Scrum and agile methodologies.
  • Experience building component-based user interfaces and consuming REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with browser-based 3D/graphics technologies such as WebGL, three.js, or Cesium.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and Git.
  • Experience with monorepos and module or micro-frontend architectures.
  • Exposure to Cesium and iTwin.js, or other digital-twin, BIM, or CAD platforms.
  • Experience integrating or building AI/Copilot-assisted features.
  • Familiarity with WebGL/3D rendering performance in web applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship frontend features for the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud iTwin/iModel Viewer, from requirements through delivery, using TypeScript, React, Cesium, and iTwin.js.
  • Document features and technical decisions through clear code, comments, and concise technical write-ups.
  • Build and maintain micro-frontend (Module Federation) packages in a large pnpm monorepo while balancing shared-package stability with feature velocity.
  • Write clear, testable, and maintainable code with strong unit and end-to-end test coverage.
  • Participate in code reviews, PR-based workflows, and agile/Scrum ceremonies, and uphold coding standards and architectural boundaries.
  • Mentor and support fellow engineers through pairing, reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Benefits

  • Attractive salary and benefits package.
  • Bentley Impact Day: a day off work to volunteer with an organization of choice.
  • Colleague recognition award programs and the Bentley Achievers platform.
  • Global initiatives and resource groups supporting inclusion, belonging, and colleague wellbeing.
