Software Engineer II
About The Position
A Software Engineer II at Home Chef is an experienced software developer proficient in the languages and frameworks commonly used at the company. Requirements
- At least one year of experience shipping production code.
- Have built and shipped major features in Ruby on Rails and/or React.
- Comfort working with version control such as GitHub.
- Proficiency with at least one code editor, such as VS Code, Sublime, or Vim.
- Comfort working with tools such as Slack and GSuite.
- Willingness to respond to on-call events when they occur.
- Up to one year of post-high-school training, such as business school, community college, or vocational training.
- No travel required.

Responsibilities
- Write code to solve business problems and handle tickets.
- Develop features using Ruby on Rails and a PostgreSQL database.
- Write code using React, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Perform deployments in a Heroku environment.
- Develop and implement backend solutions.
- Interact with relational, NoSQL, and caching databases; implement and optimize features.
- Ship and maintain reliable, scalable, and efficient code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production errors, and identify their root causes.
- Develop mobile features for iOS and Android using React Native.
- Review teammates’ work and collaborate with others.
- Give actionable feedback to help peers and the team deliver.
- Contribute to discussions influencing the roadmap and product development of Home Chef tools.
- Communicate clearly and write code during pair programming.
- Communicate trade-offs among technical approaches and solutions.
- Participate in regular team meetings for product roadmap planning and team efficiency.
- Respond to on-call events when they occur.
