About The Position

Responsibilities

  • Own a domain or technical system long-term, act as a domain expert, and drive customer impact through technical direction and durable improvements.
  • Make independent technical decisions under open-ended requirements and partner with the Architect and Product Manager on roadmaps, trade-offs, and solutions.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager, Architect, and Product Manager on long-term goals; redirect work toward measurable outcomes when it is not creating impact.
  • Lead one or two important projects concurrently, divide work for independent execution, and proactively anticipate risks.
  • Define and maintain project plans, milestones, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes for larger initiatives.
  • Define domain-level standards, patterns, and operational practices; address technical debt, toil, and security issues across team-owned systems.
  • Lead code reviews that coach others and improve review culture; simplify systems and build tools or documentation adopted by others.
  • Design architecture and infrastructure patterns for the team, make spike and MVP decisions, and guide trade-offs involving scale, reliability, simplicity, and cost.
  • Drive production issue response and post-mortems; define and monitor SLAs/SLOs where applicable and implement durable operational fixes, including scale improvements.
  • Plan for the evolution of production infrastructure, integrations, and cross-system dependencies across the domain.
  • Coordinate across teams and communicate with stakeholders; eliminate systemic toil and simplify systems at the domain level.
