About The Position

FALCATA is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer in Silver Spring, Maryland, to support advanced modeling and simulation development and execution for surface Navy radar and combat systems. The modeling and simulation effort supports system design and development, analytical evaluation of system performance, and systems engineering for sophisticated radar, communications, and weapons systems. The engineer will work with junior and senior system and software engineers supporting U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency customers. The role involves individual and team assignments and significant interaction with radar and modeling and simulation engineers. Travel is expected up to 5%, primarily to Navy facilities around the Washington, DC area; farther travel is irregular. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Requirements

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical degree grounded in computer programming.
Skill in C/C++ or Java.
Interest in the Navy's AEGIS Combat System and defense technology.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance.
U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

Skill in Qt and Microsoft Visual Studio.
Experience with Windows and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

Integrate models and components into large-scale simulations.
Develop and maintain GUIs, analysis tools, and automation for activities such as building and testing.
Contribute to design and architecture.
Implement capabilities, test software, and resolve bugs and issues.
Collaborate with radar system and modeling and simulation engineers.
Port code between Windows and Linux.
