About The Position

As a Software Engineer I, you will contribute to the development, testing, and installation of mission-critical software components. This is an onsite role that offers strong mentorship, structured learning opportunities, and exposure to Agile development, DevSecOps processes, and CI/CD workflows. You will contribute to the development and sustainment of mission-critical software that delivers reliable PNT data to U.S. Navy surface ships. GPNTS is the Navy’s next-generation, real-time GPS-based data fusion and distribution system for surface platforms. It integrates inputs from multiple navigation sensors to produce a dependable and accurate blended navigation solution for Fleet operators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related STEM field
  • Foundational knowledge in one or more programming languages (C, C++, Python, or Java)
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, and version control
  • Familiarity with Linux environments or basic command-line operations
  • Exposure to Agile development through coursework, internships, or projects
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to work fulltime onsite

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on project experience involving embedded systems, networking, or real-time software
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar
  • Exposure to DevSecOps concepts or secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially in multidisciplinary engineering environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software features under guidance from senior engineers
  • Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues
  • Contribute to automated tests and participate in CI/CD-driven build and integration processes
  • Support software design tasks, including documentation and interface definition
  • Work within an Agile team, participating in standups, sprint reviews, and planning activities
  • Follow secure coding practices and support DevSecOps-aligned workflows
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, and test engineering teams
