GPNTS is the Navy’s next‑generation, real‑time GPS‑based data fusion and distribution system for surface platforms. It integrates inputs from multiple navigation sensors to produce a dependable and accurate blended navigation solution for Fleet operators. In this role, you will contribute to the development and sustainment of mission‑critical software that delivers reliable PNT data to U.S. Navy surface ships. As a Software Engineer I, you will contribute to the development, testing, and installation of mission‑critical software components. This is an onsite role that offers strong mentorship, structured learning opportunities, and exposure to Agile development, DevSecOps processes, and CI/CD workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related STEM field
  • Foundational knowledge in one or more programming languages (C, C++, Python, or Java)
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, and version control
  • Familiarity with Linux environments or basic command‑line operations
  • Exposure to Agile development through coursework, internships, or projects
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to work fulltime onsite

Nice To Haves

  • Hands‑on project experience involving embedded systems, networking, or real‑time software
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar
  • Exposure to DevSecOps concepts or secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially in multidisciplinary engineering environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software features under guidance from senior engineers
  • Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues
  • Contribute to automated tests and participate in CI/CD-driven build and integration processes
  • Support software design tasks, including documentation and interface definition
  • Work within an Agile team, participating in standups, sprint reviews, and planning activities
  • Follow secure coding practices and support DevSecOps‑aligned workflows
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, and test engineering teams
