About The Position

Etsy is seeking an early-career Software Engineer I to join the Marketplace Makers team, which builds programs and tools that recognize and grow Etsy sellers and improve buyer experiences. The team works on the Star Seller program and seller tools in Shop Manager. The role involves building and shipping full-stack web features using PHP and React/TypeScript, learning how Etsy’s platform works end to end, and developing engineering skills with support from teammates who pair, review code, and teach. The team is a multifunctional product group distributed across the United States and Mexico. It ships small increments behind feature flags, runs A/B experiments, and uses data to guide product decisions. The role reports to the Engineering Manager of Marketplace Makers. Candidates are prioritized if they live within commuting distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn office, where team members are asked to work in person once or twice per week depending on proximity. Remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional office travel expected. The position is full time. Compensation includes a location-based base salary, an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and benefits supporting employees and their families. Etsy is an equal opportunity workplace and supports accommodations during the interview and hiring process. Visa sponsorship is supported, though opportunities may be limited to certain roles and skills.
