Software Engineer I
About The Position
The Software Engineer I reports into Estes's various IT Delivery Hubs and solves business problems using modern frameworks and technologies, with guidance from mid-level and senior Software Engineers. The role calls for a growth mindset, continuous learning, and collaboration with teammates and the wider engineering community to build solutions that provide business value. The engineer works within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and maintain full-stack applications and interfaces. Under the direction of senior engineers, the role contributes to the availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions and collaborates with business partners, architecture, infrastructure, and development teams. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs, and regular attendance is required. The listed duties are not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
- At least 1 year of software engineering experience, professional and/or academic.
- At least 6 months of experience, professional and/or academic, with one or more of JavaScript, Java, APIs, Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, .NET, or Python.
- Comply with company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
- Interact well with others and work independently or in a team setting.
- Work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
- Read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents, including safety rules, operations/procedure manuals, and maintenance instructions; demonstrate comprehension and concentration sufficient to meet deadlines.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug and/or alcohol tests, and be subject to a criminal history background check.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of experience with one or more of JavaScript, Java, Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, XML, JSON, .NET, or Python.
- At least 1 year of experience with open-source frameworks such as Spring Boot, Bootstrap, Angular, React, or Node.js.
- At least 1 year of experience in REST API development and related technologies such as Confluent Kafka, KSQL, Kong, JSON, or Swagger.
- At least 1 year of experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as SQL Server or Mongo.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain applications and interfaces across a full stack of technologies within and across Agile teams.
- Work under the direction of senior Software Engineers to deliver availability, resilience, and scalability in solutions.
- Collaborate with senior Software Engineers, business partners, architecture, infrastructure, and development teams to deliver valuable solutions.
- Continuously learn modern technologies, tools, and techniques and participate in internal and external technology communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
